Well, well, well. We've made it to the NFC Championship... AND WE ARE PLAYING AT THE LINC! If you told anyone that sentence last month, they would probably laugh at you and say you're crazy, but here we are. One win away from the Super Bowl, and the Washington Commanders stand in our way.
The Commanders are coming in hot, being led by young rookie phenom Jayden Daniels. Daniels has been arguably the most consistent quarterback throughout the playoffs by not turning the ball over and making veteran types of decisions with the football. After a stunning defeat of the Detroit Lions in the divisional round, you have to take the Commanders seriously.
However, the Eagles are also coming in hot after a close win against the Los Angeles Rams in the heavy snow. In that game, they were led by Saquon Barkley, who again ran all over the Rams defense, totaling 205 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The defense was also imposing in the snow, forcing turnovers, creating sacks, and doing everything you need to do to be successful against a very talented Rams offense. The passing game, on the other hand, was underwhelming once again. But I have a thought about that.
The Eagles are not built like other traditional teams nowadays. Usually, the passing game on a team is the part of the offense that pushes the ball down the field and creates explosive plays to open the game up, but not for this Eagles team. Our offensive line is so dominant and Saquon Barkley is so spectacular that this running game is the part of the offense that opens up and makes the big plays happen. I think this type of offensive style makes people worry because it's not traditional and not what everyone else does, but that is what makes this Eagles offense so special and so successful.
Now for my prediction. This game is so interesting to me because both teams have the firepower to blow each other out but at the same time the ability to beat each other in a close game. I believe this game will come down to who can stop the other team's offense and who will take the fight to the other team. In my opinion, I see the Eagles pulling this game out in a really close fashion and moving on to the Super Bowl. I see Jalen Hurts having a great game against a solid Washington defense that will probably stack the box to prevent any long Barkley runs. If we think back to the last time the Eagles and Commanders played, if Jalen Hurts doesn't get hurt, that game would have turned into a blowout. Even with Kenny Pickett, if DeVonta Smith makes a crucial catch in the fourth quarter, the Eagles win that game without Hurts and C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who got thrown out early in the second half. I cannot wait to watch both this game and the night game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills. If you are a football fan, Sunday is the perfect day for you!
